Introduction to Alpaca Breeding
Designed for new and prospective owners, this training course provides an overview of alpaca keeping and breeding. It is a practical hands-on day which is both fun and informative – ideal for anyone who wants to learn more, whether as a serious breeder or pet owner.
Run by 2 experienced international breeders Liz Barlow (BAS Judge and Tutor) and Bob Hyde.

- Background to Alpacas
- Fencing and Shelters
- Nutrition and Feeding
- Catching and Haltering
- Basic Husbandry
- Breeding and Weaning
- Aspects of alpaca selection – conformation and fibre
- Fleece; shearing to end product
- Finance and investment overview
